Google's disappearing act

A Mac OS X-themed version of Google's Web site was taken down a day after its debut. Note the nod to OS X in the rhyme at the bottom of the page.

What's up with that?
What do you think the object was in posting this home page
version? Obviously someone at Google is a fan.

I Like it, Very Stylish
The Idea of it definately makes you wonder. The things you could accomplish with a search engine used as your OS engine.....
Sounds very interesting if you ask me.

Welcome to the new Microsoft
Apple thinks they own an industry and all of a sudden look out! Here comes Apple legal thinking they can push everyone around including their fans and friends. Hey Apple. Guess what happen when you keep punching your friends in the nose over and over. Soon you have none. ***holes.

Pardon?
Mr. Doe,

Could you provide any evidence (as there is none in the article
nor at Google) that Apple has anything to do with this decision?
I think it's far more likely that this was a pre-emptive decision
by a higher-up at Google. I find your tirade against Apple Legal
as humorous as it is devoid of substance.

fired the employee
i bet you anything the employee who did that was terminated. employees cannot simply edit an externally facing product w/out executive approval. that is a major no-no. especially, not a homepage of one of the most popular search engines in the world.

Google X not at main page
But that wasn't even the main page. It was list in the experimentatal section, remember? Moreover, they have no intention of copying, it's just paying homage. Wat fuss was Apple throwing? They behave so like MS nowadays....

If Google wants MY endorsement...
I saw Google's active page and was impressed. For me it's a matter of consistency. there are plenty of good search engines out there to choose from. To choose Google just because of their popularity is a mistake. But to choose Google because it Looks like everything else on your desktop; That's a reason! Why are big corporations so afraid to endorse MAC? Is Google subject to the Microsoft attitude that they buckled under pressure? Microsoft makes their office suite for the MAC, but left out many of the functionalities. I don't mean to start a MAC OS vx. Microsoft OS comparison (there's far too much to say and the choice there is clear). The quick deployment and removal of the Google's MAC OSX-like web page just brought that comparison to bear in my mind.

Google Mac/Microsoft Conundrum
Not to be Super Sensitive...I use both..Each protects their
territory.
Within the last 5 years, some has been shared.
I probably spend too much time on Computers, but both are
trying to survive.

Google Earth is (apparently) working on program to include Mac
OSX. Since Mac has the advantage of probably making MS look
bad, for detail, this may be in the distant future.

For now...all I can say...thank God for the competition.

Since I use both O/S...some like email work better for on the
Mac...due to the new "Spotlight"

Although many of us do not have the luxury of using both, try to
remember..Technology, like Politics has a two edge sword.

Google will try to reach the masses, being MS,to date..have done
a fantastic job, Kudos.

Regards;
