Stupid!
Again, one of those articles trying to say "why don't you buy something else!". As if you can't provide a competing alternative to a Ferrari and would write an article describing how stupid it is to leave the keys on the car and go shopping in the downtown! so let's buy KIA instead!!!!

Tell me, what is more stupid, the device or the owner who leaves 400 dollars (or even more) on a table in a drugstore?!!

What a crock
Come on Cnet, when a story says this:

<quote>But a recent spike in subway felonies, reported in the New York Daily News Tuesday, has been driven by an increase in thefts of the popular MP3 player, the police said. As of Sunday, there had been 304 robberies in the transit system citywide this year, up 24 percent from the same period last year, the police said. Grand larcenies are up 10 percent, with 462 so far this year. Over all, transit crimes are up 16 percent.

It is impossible to say how many of those robberies were of iPods, but they were a major factor, the police said. </quote>

It basically means that the story is nothing more than sensationalism. The police say robberies are up because of iPods, but don't know how many iPods are stolen? So then what did these "304 robberies in the transit system" victims report to the police? That "something" was stolen, but they don't know what it was, and it might have been an iPod?

And as for the maroon who left his iPod in the drugstore, didn't he backup all his music into his iTunes Library? If not, then he's an idiot twice over. Once for losing his iPod, and once for neglecting to do a backup.

Music Is More Valuable
Well, I must say that leaving your iPod on the counter of a drug store is not the smartest thing one could do, but people do make mistakes and accidents do happen.

It's neat though that he's not too upset about the iPod itself. I like that the music is what he values most.

Stolen Music More Valuable
I think its funny that the guy didn't have hard copies of his
music because it was all downloaded off other people's
computers. First it was funny because the guy is basically
claiming that the music he stole is more valuable than the ipod
he (presumably) bought, and the article doesn't make any
comment on how the police are taking note of all these ipod
thieves but not of the thieves who have hundreds of dollars
worth of other peoples' music on their otherwise legal ipod.
