IBM launches business research group

IBM has opened a new center designed to combine supercomputing, advanced math, data mining and management consulting to tackle complicated business problems. Big Blue appointed William R. Pulleyblank to lead the new Center for Business Optimization, the company said last week.

Pulleyblank previously led IBM's Deep Computing Institute and its Blue Gene supercomputer. Several hundred employees will work at the Center for Business Optimization, IBM said.
