Bush put the economy back on track
by Andy kaufman January 14, 2008 9:32 PM PST
this year there is a budget surplus, the jobs are coming back, the surge in Iraq is working, tech companies are more profitable, and the economy is pulling out of a recession that had started in 1998 when Clinton was in office. If anyone remembers 1998 it was when the Dotcom companies busted, we had black Thursday in the stock market, and IT and Engineering jobs went to India, China, Russia and other Asian nations thanks to one-sided trade deals Clinton made with those nations. It took over a decade to fix what was wrong with the economy, but Bush did the best he could for almost eight years and now IBM and other tech companies are showing record profits again after a decade of losses and failures.

Under Clinton we lost Wang, AOL went deep into debt, Packard Bell went out of business, Commodore went out of business, Atari stopped making computers and got sold off a few times, Apple went into deep debt until Steve Jobs returned with iMacs and Mac OSX to turn the company around, Sega stopped making video game consoles and went deep into debt, Indrema tried to make the first Linux based game console but Clintonomics put them out of business, DEC went out of the computer business, Kodak went out of the computer business, Sperry almost went out of business got bought out, NEC stopped making computers, AT&T stopped making computers, Netscape almost went out of business and got bought by AOL, Sun had record losses, HP and Compaq had record losses but merged to survive, Computer City went out of business, Gateway had to close their mall stores due to losses, Radio Shack stopped making computers, Be Inc. went out of business, Palm got into heavy debt got bought out by 3Com, USRobotics went into heavy debt got bought out by 3Com, Hayes the original modem maker went out of business, Reveal went out of business, many technology companies went into debt or went out of business or merged thanks to Clintonomics. But now with Bushnomics, technology companies like IBM are showing record profits again.
All IBM had to do was drop OS/2 for Linux

and look at IBM now. When they supported OS/2 they lost billions, now that they support Linux instead they have billions in profits.

What ever is the matter with "Andy kaufman"!

"Andy kaufman" wrote: "All IBM had to do was drop OS/2 for Linux and look at IBM now. When they supported OS/2 they lost billions, now that they support Linux instead they have billions in profits". Now, here is an historical article that provided an insight as to what happened in the banking industry when IBM began to limit is support for OS/2:

"IBM, Bankers at Odds Over OS/2 Migration Path"

"Vendor advises OS/2 users to switch to Linux, but ATM makers are leading push to Windows"

http://www.computerworld.com/softwaretopics/os/story/0,10801,83884,00.html

Also, remembering that much earlier (in an article to be found on this CNET NEWS site) it was stated that "JPMorgan Chase cancels IBM outsourcing contract"

http://www.news.com/JPMorgan-Chase-cancels-IBM-outsourcing-contract/2100-1011_3-5367781.html

Despite IBM reduction of support for the OS/2 Operating System it still is alive and is in use in numerous industries around the world today and has morphed into eComStation while despite IBM support for Linux it is yet to make its mark in the desktop space in which Microsoft's Windows maintains a commanding 90% plus market share lead. No, "Andy kaufman" IBM did not need to "drop OS/2 for Linux"; and, as a matter of fact IBM (even if it wished to Open-Source) does not own all the Source-Codes in OS/2 Operating System. Besides, the Operating System is not all there is to computing, where are all the additional applications that are needed to make it all happen. As the subject line states: "What ever is the matter with "Andy kaufman"!
