Hardware hiccup blanks the Journal

A "hardware failure" on Monday caused The Wall Street Journal Online's Web site to temporarily suspend publishing, according to a statement from parent company Dow Jones.

The outage, which began before 1 p.m. PST, also hit Barron's Online. The Dow Jones statement said it lasted "under an hour" and that it was an "isolated occurrence." During the publishing outage, the Journal posted a plain-text version of its Afternoon Report on its site.
