HP to open Polish outsourcing center

Hewlett-Packard plans to open a new center in Poland for business process outsourcing, which involves taking over companies' ancillary tasks such as human resources or credit card processing. Over the next five years, HP will invest $50 million and hire about 1,000 employees to develop the center in Wroclaw, the company said Friday.

Separately, HP's services group announced it has become the strategic computing partner for the Bank of Baroda in India. HP will help build a system by which the bank's 25 million customers can use services globally through the Internet, automated teller machines and call centers. HP will design, build and manage a data center that includes products from Cisco Systems, Credit Rating and Information Services of India, Infosys, Microsoft, Oracle, Reuters and others.
