Growing BearingPoint to hire in Asia

BearingPoint added 600 employees over the past year, and it is on the hunt for workers in Australia, Japan and China. Employee headcount increased to 16,000 as of June 30, the business consulting and technology services company said in a public filing Monday. Its Asia Pacific business unit generated revenue of $98 million in the second quarter, up 20 percent year-over-year. "Our principal challenge in this region has been resource constraints, as we have had difficulty finding qualified professionals in certain markets," BearingPoint said in the filing. "We plan to continue hiring qualified professionals in Australia, Japan and China over the next few quarters."

BearingPoint posted second-quarter revenue of $886 million, up 13.5 percent over last year. Among BearingPoint's services are information technology outsourcing and so-called business process outsourcing. Overall outsourcing will grow worldwide during the next year, according to a new report from the Meta Group.
