1. As for VOIP, Google clearly does not feel that googletalk will
ever get off the ground. Skype adds more users in a week than
googletalk adds in a lifetime. Googletalk will remain essentially
an IM/email product, if anything.
2. Googletalk and Skype will probably move toward
interoperability in IM and email.
3. Googletalk was a driving force for SIP dreamers. Where does
SIP go now? Answer: no place.
4. Google stops eBay from cementing its relationship with Yahoo
for advertising
5. Google "checkout" may go the way of googletalk (ie. "merge"
with Paypal)
6. Skype becomes part of the Google software portfolio, Paypal
becomes part of the Google porfolio of online services, and
Google gets out of the auction business. IOW, google returns to
its roots in advertising
