"Me too!"

"...looking to figure out how to create transportable personal health records that give users "a lot of control" over who can see such sensitive documents."

Innovative thinking. And when they do, I'm sure they'll be hailed as the first folks to ever crack that nut.

A roadblock
by Marcus Westrup October 17, 2007 10:06 PM PDT
Many doctors (indeed, all I've ever dealt with), treat patient health information as property of the doctors office. They are Very reluctant to hand over important details, and resist sharing x-rays/scans with other physicians. Perhaps this is to restrict patients from going somewhere else for health care?
My point is, Google (or anyone else), faces much more than just a technical challenge in distributing electronic health records; they also face a century of entrenched medical resistance to change.

You can not just take it and run.

A roadblock or not. The fact is that the history and experience about any previous doctor's visit of any patient should count for any future treatment. Given that fact, a credit system should be in place automatically for the benefit of previously visited doctors and his or her office. Once such systems established with all the factors considered and balanced (under the principles of humanity and capitalism), the net benefit will definitely weight on a patient. Then, any previously considered "roadblock" will become "must-be" stepping stones to the end of optimized treatment for any patient.

Good Future!

This is non-sense - what is needed is Universal Health care
by Dean_Ansari October 18, 2007 7:25 AM PDT
To say "Google says it's working to solve health record dilemma" is Absolutely non-sense.
It is just Propaganda by Google or for Google.
Because no American should be or will be searching for Medical questions on Google if they
could go to a Doctor for the answer to these questions for free as people in Canada and Europe can. They are searching on Google for answer to Medical questions because of lack of Universal Health care in US which has resulted in 48 Mill people not having any health coverage and those that do many find themselves facing $1000s in deductibles and co-pays for a simple Doctor visit.
So if Google wanted to help the American people with their miserable state of health care due to
lack of Universal health care as Canadian and Europeans have, it would support organizations working for Universal health care in US with a few percentage of its profits, as Anoox search engine is doing by promising to give away 50% of its profit to support organizations working for Universal health care in US. You can check Anoox's pledge to pay its profit away for support of Universal health care & Education here:
http://www.anoox.com/profit-giveaway-to-UHC.jsp

P.S., People in US pay the same Taxes as Candian or Europeans do, they just dont get ANYTHING for it.

And this is irrelevant nonsense ...

If you could stay home and have Google (or some other program) diagnose your minor ailments, why would you drag yourself to a doctor's office full of sick people just to be told you have a virus, whether you had Universal Health Care or not?
With all Google's money...

They still haven't released a personal health record. This problem has already been solved by other companies that I trust far more than Google (or Microsoft for that matter).

I have had my personal health record at Zebra Health (http://www.zebrahealth.com) for a long time now and it works great.
