Google lets advertisers schedule campaign breaks

Google launched on Thursday evening an AdWords feature that lets advertisers increase or reduce bids for keywords and pause ad campaigns during a specific time or day.

Ad scheduling, known as dayparting in the industry, will enable a sports apparel firm to schedule an increase in its search keyword bids on Sunday afternoons to catch the post-televised football game viewers, for example, said Richard Holden, a product management director for Google's advertising unit.

So...
Will they be tracking incoming IP addresses to find out where they are located in the world in order to determine if it is "Sunday afternoon" for them, or is this just another short-sighted American-centric "innovation"...?

There are other ways...
Since their ads are java-based, applets called as the page is being served, they should be able to get the current date/time from your computer. I would assume that many of the advertisers are probably already targetting specific geographical regions.
