Google was set to announce on Thursday a new version of its Google Web Toolkit that will let people develop AJAX (asynchronous JavaScript and XML) applications on Apple Computer's Macintosh operating system. The previous version was for developing AJAX Web applications on Windows and Linux.

The new version of the toolkit also is faster and offers better localization and internationalization support for developers creating multilingual applications, said Bret Taylor, senior product manager for Google developer tools.
