Gateway upgrades PC security contract

PC maker Gateway revised its contract with computer security software firm Symantec to preinstall versions of Norton Internet Security 2005 for its Gateway and eMachines consumer desktop and notebooks PCs. Previously, Gateway preinstalled Norton AntiVirus. The software is designed to protect against viruses, worms and Trojan horses.

The new package includes Norton AntiSpam, Personal Firewall and Norton Parental Control. A PC purchase will also come with a 90-day complimentary subscription to Symantec's protection updates. Once the subscription expires, users have the option to renew the software support for another 12 months.
