Gateway will sell its notebooks and desktops through the Circuit City retail chain starting next month, the companies said Monday.
More than 600 Circuit City stores in 160 markets nationwide will stock Gateway computing products, the companies said. Further details will be announced in January.
After its acquisition of eMachines early this year, Gateway closed down its own stores and began selling through retail and consumer electronics chains, including CompUSA and Best Buy. Gateway's plan was to challenge Hewlett-Packard on retail shelves.
Gateway extended its retail foray into Mexico and Japan by partnering with local stores.
"Expanding Gateway's retail distribution was a key part of our strategy for 2004," Gateway CEO Wayne Inouye said in a statement.
