Gates reaches out to developers

In an interview with CNET News.com, Bill Gates said Microsoft intends to make a special effort to reach out to independent software vendors. This comes as some ISVs have expressed concerns about nascent competition from Microsoft, saying that might lead them to look at alternative development platforms like Linux and Java.

"We're not going to do product bundles in a way that would be disadvantageous to them," Gates said.
