GM inks software deal with SeeBeyond

General Motors formed an agreement with SeeBeyond to help tie together some of the giant automaker's disparate applications. Redwood City, Calif.-based SeeBeyond makes EAI (enterprise application integration) software, which enables various business applications to communicate. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

GM said it will initially use SeeBeyond's flagship eBI software suite for systems involved in its Order-To-Delivery initiative--efforts by GM to focus on reorganizing processes and systems essential for the reliable delivery of vehicles to dealers in a short period of time. SeeBeyond will help GM streamline the processes involved in fulfilling orders, purchasing materials, scheduling manufacturing, and transporting vehicles. SeeBeyond will also provide connectivity to suppliers through GM's Web portal for direct supplier communications and to online auto exchanges such as Covisint.
