Fujitsu to sell Egenera servers in Europe

Fujitsu Siemens has announced a three-year deal worth $300 million under which the computer maker will become the exclusive European seller of Egenera's high-end BladeFrame servers. Under the deal, announced Wednesday, Fujitsu Siemens will sell the servers as part of its Primergy line during the fourth quarter, the companies said.

The BladeFrame computers use several blade servers, each with Intel or AMD processors and running Windows or Linux, plugged into a single chassis. The BladeFrame can move tasks from one blade to another based on changing work requirements. In 2004, Egenera filed plans to hold an initial public offering, but it withdrew in April, citing market conditions.
