Why should we care about BlueRay?

So BlueRay can store 25gigs on a disk...So what! Are we suppose to be impressed? Double Layer DVD is already here and I can store 8.5gig on that...and the drives and disc are a fraction of the cost of BlueRay. Plus DL-DVD doesn't come with Rootkits or so much DRM that it brings your computer down to a crawl.

You need to re-evaluate for a minute.

If you're moving sensative information, say databases, for example, they could be ggantic, containing sensative information, and you might want a nice way to store them, Blue-Ray DVDs work great for something like this, becausr you aren't networking computers, you have a physical backup, on something that costs quite a bit less in same cases, than a drive that size (Don't quote me on that, feel free to point out price mistakes), but it's also portable.

Not to mention, I watch anime, now, a single season of anime compressed can run up over 5 GB for me, which I don't like splitting (I can't afford a bunch of Dual-layer DVDs :/) but by the time I'll be using blue-ray DVDs, they'll be at a price I could easily pay for something that large. Also, ever think of how much digital media could be stored on one of those? If I backed up my entire collection of digital media, I could easily fill a LOT of DVDs (single layer...) I have an 80 GB drive nearly full, and another 30 GB getting close now, as well. That would only be 2 full size Dual-layer DVD's. or so, as opposed to about over 5 times that many dual-layer DVDs.

I agree that rootkits and DRM are a huge issue, but the simple fact that they can hold so much media will allow the media people to concentrate less on compressing things, and more on making things higher quality, without worrying about size. not to mention some game systems have large games which require numerous DVDs to play, where they could fit the entire game onto 1 blue ray disk. These are targetted much more to coorperate use than home use at this point, and most likely will stay that way for some time.

Tablet Pc makers have implemented a more separatist use of Fujitsu's lead.

Heavy competion in a niche market. Persons with information and specifications regarding the motor drive and protective casing of this particular Blue-ray disc notebook, can make this a must have with great battery life. Daily uploads; for subsidiary companies like FritoLays, Space-X, NASA, Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

802.11/bg would carry all of these leading edge opertunities into municiple infrastucture registration for precurement. Must have!
