Let me get this straight

So now Microsoft has to make it's music open to non "plays for
sure" devices?
If Apple weren't the market leader, this would have been a non-
story.

Will France make Microsoft open its DRM scheme?
by JuggerNaut July 1, 2006 5:53 PM PDT
If France is going to force Apple open its DRM technology to other
digital music players, then France needs to force Microsoft to open
its DRM technology to other operating systems (Mac, Linux and
etc...).

What's good for the goose is good for the gander!

maybe you don't know, but almost all non-ipod mp3 players and all music download websites except iTunes use Microsoft's format. It's called PlayForSure. Companies can pay a fee and get a license to use it. Apple on the other hand doesnt allow this.

Apple has time.

Apple will stay in France regardless of this law.

They just have to figure out how to stay there and be profitable.

I think they should open up their DRM to other MP3 Players.
We already know they make the best MP3 players out there, the
Ipod brand will survive this onslaught if not make it more
popular. If they do open Itunes up it will ensure that its
competitors like Napster & Urge won't gain any ground.

Cause this law will snowball for sure. If they can't figure it out in
France, they won't figure with another country.

Itunes & Ipod are still number one. They just to have faith in it.

Go back to making your creamy sauces. You really needed to pass a compatibility law? C'mon folks, you have too much time to pass.
