That will work for only so long...

You can only get away with that until your current stuff breaks and you have to replace it. With electronics today having such a short life span you have maybe 2 or 3 years and then your screwed like the rest of us. It is either time to stop buying all together or its time to walked around bent over.

Robert

Wow, it's DIVX without the compression algorithm

You can pretty much replace every instance of SVD and replace it with DIVX-lite.

All the inconvenient DRM baggage of DIVX, and none of the compressive qualities. Now THAT is a "great" idea!

It looks like its about time to...
by September 10, 2004 5:32 PM PDT
Well, it looks like in a few years I will be time for me to say good by to buying DVD movies, good by to Television, etc. I am simply not going to continue to pay the high prices these companies want for the crap they keep putting out. It is rapidly becoming not worth it. Television has gone down the toilet. Too many commericals (almost as many male enhancement commercials on TV as one gets in spam e-mails). Butchering of the movies by bleeping stuff out, replacing it with different works or cutting the scenes out all together. Scrunched credits for more commercials at the end. Mini pop-up commercials after a program comes back from commercial break (now with sound, at least on TNT). Add in all of the crappy programs coming out especially in the super lame reality TV area and why bother paying for this crap. DVD's are getting to almost as bad. I just bought the special edition of Star Trek Generations (not a great movie but I wanted to see the alternate ending) and there are copyright notices at the end of every little clip, and on some of the clips while they play. Add to that that many commercial DVD's include commercials at the start for other products, etc. What a joke. If they want all of this crap and copy protections too then they should give the stuff away and make their money on the commercials.

I have just about had enough.

Robert
