Female impersonation tarts up online games

Why do so many male players dress up their avatars as female? It's not for the reasons you may think.

Only one fantasy here
by Mergatroid Mania July 31, 2006 6:00 PM PDT
The only fantasy here is the belief that most men assume a female character is operated by a female person.

I play MMRPGs. The only people in these games that would support the above belief are kids, who's first instinct is to make a character that shares their own gender.

I agree with the player quoted in your story. If I have to look at the back of a character for hours while playing, I would rather look at a female. I believe most males understand this and make no assumptions as to the gender of a characters operator. If they call you "her" it's because the character is a her, not because they're assuming the operator is a her.
This has been going on since role playing games were invented, so now it's a story? Someone just notice it? We all know this is 2006 right?
