not that this will accomplish anything
The music industry will pay off some Congressmen and then get out of this.

I agree
I agree that this will probably not accomplish anything. Anytime I hear about a "federal probe" I hear my tax dollars being flushed down the toilet. These probes have never accomplished anything as far as I can tell. It probably is not even necessary for the RIAA to buy off congress this time. The probe will find nothing -- just as it always does.

Criminals at it again
How many have the record companies and the RIAA now been caught in price fixing? At least twice in CD pricing fixing that I can recall plus now online sales. It's good to see their business model (of price fixing music) has now moved to online sales :p At some point will the justice system acknowledges that this is organized crime? Isn't an a crime syndicate an organization who's primary or significant purpose includes breaking the law. Seems like they qualify. If not what is the threshold?

It's about F'ing time! But the labels will buy their way out, again
They'll simply add $$$ to the politicians pockets like they have in the past and get off scot free. The labels know how the systems works and have worked it many times in the past.

In the end, the consumer will end up paying even more for music with even more DRM restrictions.
