XCD unveiled today a new print server that meets the needs of high-bandwidth networks.

The company says that the XConnect 100 meets the speed and power demands of the 100-mbps 100baseT standard, while also supporting the Ethernet 10-mbps 10baseT standard as well as any existing Ethernet equipment users might have.

XConnect 100 supports two high-speed IEEE 1284 parallel ports plus two serial ports for connecting printers. All connections can be used simultaneously.

The server is compatible with Hewlett-Packard's JetAdmin and XCD's XAdmin Windows-based printer configuration utilities and users of TCP/IP, NetWare, Windows NT, Windows 95, AppleTalk, LAN Server, Banyan Vines, and DEC LAT will be supported.

The retail price of the XConnect 100 will be $595, and the company expects to ship in volume by October.
