Eric Benhamou joins RealNetworks' board

RealNetworks on Thursday said it has named information technology pioneer Eric Benhamou to its board of directors. Benhamou joins the seven-member board, as the Seattle-based digital media company heads in new directions with its tools for streaming video and audio to Net-connected devices such as cell phones.

Benhamou is a trusted adviser to many technology companies. He serves on the boards of technology companies PalmOne, PalmSource and Cypress Semiconductor and acts as chairman of 3Com, where he served as CEO for 10 years. Before that, he co-founded Bridge Communications, an early pioneer in network computing. Benhamou is also on the board of the New America Foundation, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank. "I look forward to contributing to RealNetworks as it continues to deliver digital media content and services to more consumers, businesses and around the world."
