Entertainment Software Reigns at Home

  • Post a comment
A survey by market research firm SofTrends, a unit of The NPD Group, indicates that home PC users are more likely to buy entertainment software than any other kind.

SofTrends polled 1,000 PC households with regard to their software buying activity in the second quarter of this year. Number one with survey respondents were adventure and role-playing games, followed by arcade and action games, then file- and disk-management software. Personal finance software and sports games were in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Survey results show that the most important factor consumers consider in making a software purchase is price, followed in descending order by packaging blurbs, advertising, company reputation, and magazine reviews.
