SofTrends polled 1,000 PC households with regard to their software buying activity in the second quarter of this year. Number one with survey respondents were adventure and role-playing games, followed by arcade and action games, then file- and disk-management software. Personal finance software and sports games were in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
Survey results show that the most important factor consumers consider in making a software purchase is price, followed in descending order by packaging blurbs, advertising, company reputation, and magazine reviews.
