Daley, who left Price Waterhouse last June, a month before the company merged with Coopers and Lybrand, will start work at Plano, Texas-based EDS on March 8. He replaces Jody Grant, who retired last March.
During his 35-year tenure at Price Waterhouse, Daley served as co-chairman, chief operating officer, and the head of global accounting business services for the firm's financial services arm. As the company's co-chairman from 1988 to 1995, he oversaw the company's U.S. professional services and regional practices.
Daley, 57, will report to EDS's new chairman and chief executive officer Richard Brown, who has been on the job since last month, replacing Les Alberthal.
In a statement, EDS credited Daley with reorganizing Price Waterhouse's management consulting practice, shifting its focus to information technology. Daley also helped launch the company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) practices.
In addition, Daley worked on strategy for Price Waterhouse's professional practices in Eastern Europe, Russia, China, and other emerging markets.
