DuPont, NEC team up for rugged displays

DuPont Display Solutions and NEC LCD Technologies are joining forces to create flat-panel displays that work in tough environments. The "enhanced" displays will be marketed to serve the needs of industries that require displays to be used in environments such as in direct sunlight, moisture and wide temperature ranges, according to the companies. Target industries include the medical and transportation fields, the companies said.

"Together with NEC, we are going to meet a need to provide LCD (liquid-crystal display) modules that can address a global market for information displays used in challenging, high-ambient light environments. This is a market segment that is accelerating," said Peter Compo, president of DuPont Display Solutions.
