'Doom 3' headed to Macs
Apple is beating Microsoft in one more metric--Martian zombie blasting--with this week's release of a Mac version of "Doom 3" several weeks before the Xbox version is set to materialize. Developer Id Software and publisher Activision released the initial Windows version of "Doom 3," one of the most hotly anticipated games of the past few years, last summer.
Aspyr Media, a specialist in converting Windows games to run on Macs, announced on Monday that a version of the popular shooting game for Apple's OS X operating system will go on sale March 19. A version for Microsoft's Xbox console is set to go on sale April 3.

And yet you mention that PC users (that's mostly a Microsoft product, if you're keeping score) have been blasting Zombies for roughly seven or so months now. Also, look at the income potential. Doom 3 sales for the Mac won't come anywhere near the Doom 3 sales for the Xbox on sheer numbers alone.
If Apple were dedicated to their gamers, this game would have been released months ago. Blizzard can release games for PC and Mac simultaneously, why can't Apple broker a deal with id and other companies?
This underscores yet another reason gamers won't be switching any time in the near future. It's a shame, too. I love OSX.
