Eh?
The front page says:
"Walt Disney says while Apple's music store has been a "giant mover" for its bottom line, it's seeking iTunes competitors."

The article says:
"While the iTunes initiative 'has not been a giant mover in terms of the bottom line,' Staggs said, it is 'an important catalyst for where the business is going.'"

I'm confused...

Maybe Disney's confused too :)
Seems like they got a love-hate relationship with Jobs. Pixar has
provided Disney with most of their animated hits for years but
the contract has expired so they're thinking about buying the
company?

iTunes is showing them another way to make a lot of money but
they want to deal with someone else?

It sure isn't the company Walt started. That spinning sound we
hear is probably Mr. D spinning in his grave.

How to correct
Since it's an article from Reuters and there's no CNET author to "contact" trying to figure out who to inform is even more confusing.

I wonder what Disney is thinking...
Disney has just been going down hill lately. Poor Walt is rolling over in his grave.

Honestly they don't need to get extra revenue from all over the place. Just MAKE GOOD MOVIES. Stop rehashing the same formula, and make them fun to watch again. Their is a good reason Pixar is about the only profit Disney has reaped for years. Jobs is at the helm, the only man on this planet, it seems, that can enduce a creative environment without losing control.

It would be a great day for Disney investors indeed if Jobs gained market share.

Dumb like a fox
I would tend to agree that if you have a golden goose... don't fix what isn't broken. However at the same time people scratched thier heads when Disney bought up swamp land in Kissimee, Florida and asked what is Disney thinking. We now know that same swamp land as Disney World, Universal Theme Park and many other mega billion $ producers.

Then at the time I read this article c|net has stock prices listed to the right of the article and just for the record this is what showed ib Friday, 20 Jan 06:

Disney Co. 26.24 1.04 (4.13%)
Apple Computer, Inc. 79.04 -3.46 (-4.19%)
DJIA 10,880.87 26.01 (0.24%)
S&P 500 1,285.04 7.11 (0.56%)
NASDAQ 2,301.81 22.17 (0.97%)

Now I would say beating Apple's loss and the various stock market gain by 400% is an indicator that you question is even more valid but for different reasons... Dumb like a fox reasons.

That is just my opinion
