Should have started with this concept
The PC could have been the media locker if a standardized, consumer-friendly licensing mechanism had been implemented with the same concepts, i.e. the consumer buys the rights to the media once with the ability to move it between different device formats (both current and future). Digital media storage is still very young and fragile. Consumers need the ability to backup and future-proof their digital media purchases to protect their investment.

It will be interesting to see whether the RIAA/MPA cry foul and sue these services for not conforming to their business model, i.e. make the consumer buy the same content over and over as many times as possible.

Storage guarantee?
Do these storage lockers guarantee their service against accidental loss, or is the consumer out of luck if server failure or security breach irrevocably destroys their stored media collection?
