Digital gap narrows in Europe

The gap in the adoption of digital technologies among European countries is narrowing, JupiterResearch said in a study released Monday. The research firm's European Digital Life Index scored 17 Western European countries on 40 different technology variables, including Internet development and the adoption of digital devices. The study was designed to help companies assess market potential for new digital gear.

The Scandinavian region is still the leading market for digital products, Jupiter said. Sweden, Denmark and Norway hold the top three positions, followed by the United Kingdom, which showed growth in broadband and digital TV. Germany and France, which have lower Internet and digital TV penetration, hold ninth and 10th place respectively, the study showed. Greece scored lowest on the index.
