- The problem with hybrids is they're not that useful outside of metro areas with bumper-to-bumper traffic. If you're not making a lot of rapid descelations you're not going to benefit. Not only that, a hybrid costs so much more than a conventional car you might have to drive it 150,000 miles before you see any cost/benefit advantage. So, if you're just a liberal who wants to feel good without doing anything useful, buy a hybrid and tell everyone you just saved the planet.
