Dell pauses Dimension XPS deliveries

Dell halted shipments of its Dimension XPS game PC for several days, the company said Thursday, as it resumed. The shipment hold allowed the PC maker to make a change in the way it manufactures the computer, a Dell representative said. Dell regularly reviews its manufacturing procedures and alters them to improve its products' quality, according to the representative.

Following the manufacturing hold, the lead time on a Dimension XPS is about 10 days, the spokesman said. Dell is working to reduce that time to the standard period--of between three and five days--as soon as possible, the representative said.
