DVD+RW welcomes DVD+R

The DVD+RW Alliance, a group advocating for the upcoming DVD-rewritable standard, said that products using the DVD+RW standard will now also support DVD+R for write-once capabilities. A representative from Hewlett-Packard, whose DVD+RW drive is expected to ship this summer, said that the unit will support DVD+R but that customers will have to upgrade with firmware and software that will be available for free.
