Crazy Frog ring tone tops UK charts

LONDON--The Crazy Frog mobile-phone ring tone shot straight to the top of the British singles chart on Sunday--the first time a ring tone has achieved such a feat.

The Official UK Charts Company said Crazy Frog's "Axel F," which went on sale as a CD last week, kept Coldplay's new release "Speed Of Sound" in second place.

For all its popularity, the Crazy Frog has also aroused loathing.

Earlier this year the Advertising Standards Authority received complaints from viewers who not only objected to the frog's visible genitalia but also the frequency of the television spots.

Television advertisements that plug the tune feature an animated frog wearing a broad smile while singing a distractingly catchy tune with froglike lyrics:

Dorhrm bom bom bedom bem bom bedom bom bum ba ba bom bom,
Bouuuuum bom bom bedahm, Bom be barbedarm bedabedabedabeda

Sanity Test

I listened to the "Crazy Frog" ring tone and part of it was from a "Sanity Test" which was the "download of the day" several years ago on "The Screensavers". Patrick Norton (with CNet) may remember it. Maybe lawsuits will come of this ending the really annoying ringtones. Not going to hold my breath but it'd be nice.

That Bl**dy Frog!!!

As a U.K resident, we have been subjected to that Crappy Frog commercial on TV for weeks, so PLEASE have sympathy for us, it is driving everyone crazy. You cannot turn on the TV without seeing it on one of the commercial TV channels here, it has been broadcast up to 9 times in an hour.
Jamster should jam the thing where the Sun doesn't shine.
I cannot believe that people actually pay for this sh.. Stuff
