Comdex Bans X-Rated Titles, AdultDex Debuts

  • Post a comment
For adult entertainment vendors, the place to be in Las Vegas this week is not Comdex. A show-wide ban on X-rated software has prompted about 50 adult vendors and a few porn stars to hold their own show. AdultDex, the X-rated multimedia exhibition sponsored by adult CD-ROM magazine Interactive Quarterly, features an awards ceremony and a conference that includes such topics as CyberSex and Net Sex Surfers & Government Control.

Last year, vendor and customer complaints prompted Comdex officials to ask the X-rated group to leave. When they refused, officials turned off the electricity in their booths.

Jason Chudnofsky, chief executive of Comdex, said X-rated software is not appropriate for the theme of Comdex, according to a report in today's Wall Street Journal. The report also states that Comdex will lose about $500,000 as a result of the ban.
