Cisco exec joins Packet Design board

Former Cisco Systems Executive Vice President Gary Daichendt has joined the board of Packet Design, a networking start-up founded by two other former Cisco executives, Judy Estrin and Bill Carrico. Estrin met Daichendt while working at Cisco from 1998 to 2000, according to a statement. Daichendt left Cisco in December 2000 after six years at the networking giant.

Mountain View, Calif.-based Packet Design, founded in June 2000, is Estrin and Carrico's latest entrepreneurial venture. The company serves as an incubator for new networking-related technology ideas, which are then spun off into separate companies.
