Cisco Systems has agreed to purchase certain assets of privately-held security specialist Cybertrust. The networking giant will pay $14 million in cash for technology, customer contracts and other components of Cybertrust's Intellishield Alert Manager, it said in a statement Tuesday. The purchase is subject to standard conditions and is expected to close in the second quarter of Cisco's 2006 fiscal year, ending Jan. 28.
Intellishield Alert Manager is a Web-based security intelligence service that provides information about security threats and vulnerabilities. The Cybertrust assets will become part of the Cisco MySDN security intelligence Web site and fit with the company's Self-Defending Network strategy, the San Jose, Calif., company said.
