"But consumers have been slow to adopt services such as mobile Internet as Web surfing on phones is slower than on computers and it is more difficult to navigate the Internet on small phone screens."

And maybe also because it uses up your minutes AND you have to pay an extra monthly charge for internet access?

My "beef" with this move is that while cellphone screens are getting bigger, I still do not what is basically an advertisement on my phone's navigation menu.

Cingular's Internet doesn't count toward your minutes. I know because I have it.
Current Customer's View

Currently as a Cingular customer with their basic MEdia package. Right now I pay 9.99/mo to receive 512kb of data and 200 text messages. Needless to say it is a very weak package.

Their newer basic packages allow for 1mb of data. Charging based on 1kb usage extremely limits usability and value, overages cost .01 per kb. If a company really wants to appeal to a customer such as myself, then give us unlimited internet usage like a real ISP. Otherwise it just makes more sense to just stop by a hot spot and open up my laptop or use a PDA without the additional cost or limitations. Their current billing plan is reminiscent of the early 1990s dial-up services.

As for the ticker and such, that is just clutter.
