Why would Movielink do a press-release whithout technology
Why would any one do a press-release knowing they dont have the technology that their competitor already had for a while ? The beta download-to-burn been there in there on the adult side of things...

FUDdy waters
"...as well as studio concern that DVDs will be copied many times and sold illegally"

Hello? The ability to copy physical DVDs has been around for some time already, why would downloaded content be more likely to be pirated? Not to mention the average livingroom pirate makes 1 copy and doesn't sell anything. So again we're muddying the waters with excuses that don't have any reality basis.

On the plus side, $8.99 is at least approaching a reasonable price for a downloaded movie I have to burn... but with retail DVDs often selling for $10-12, sometimes less, it is still a bit much to expect for what will likely be an inferior copy on which the consumer has to do the work to create. The industry needs to get serious about passing the savings from download vs retail distribution on to the consumer.
