Cavium introduces new security processors

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Cavium Networks on Monday unveiled the Nitrox II family of security processors. The chips essentially handle all of the security functions--encryption/decryption, packet parsing, administration--on behalf of the microprocessor, thereby increasing the performance of servers or networking equipment. In April, the chips will start to ship in samples to equipment makers. Nitrox II chips are priced from $295 to $795, in quantities of 1,000, depending on their function and performance
