You never know
Interesting game. Just proves you never know what will be a hit.
I know I will be attacked for this by loyal PS people but I really am not impressed by Play Station innovations. They have taken the same idea changed the package and that's about it. Way over priced. The Wii is the best system out there right now not to mention the least expensive.

Proves many points...
First, there is the point that someone who actually designs a game from scratch (as opposed to simply picking some formulaic plot and working off of that) may fail a lot, but the successes can be incredible (see also the whole damned Donkey Kong/Mario Bros. franchise - it's roots were in innovation; now everything practically follows its formula bits of "level bosses" and suchlike).

Second, it proves that people are sick and tired of the same ol' same ol'. Sure, Quake, and even Quake 2 rocked the house when they came out.., but now you notice that no one bothers with Quake 4.

Finally, a hope that developers will leave an open structure in there if its to be downloadable. The reason that franchises like Quake, Unreal Tournament, Half-Life (or rather, a little MOD for it called Counterstrike) were so flaming successful were because they left openings for dedicated programming types to make the game into something entirely different from what was once there. MODs were a huge part of many PC games' successes, and it would be cool if the console folks did the same favor for their players...

Just figuring this out now?
You'd think they would have figured this out 10 years ago when games like Lemmings were popular.

Don't these people read about industry history? Are they too young to have played a video game 10 years ago? Or are they just jumping onto the bandwagon now?
