just what we need.. more laws
by May 6, 2005 9:05 AM PDT
Hey.. is there any possible way we can remove the parental responsibility in this area and make is someone elses problem so when something happens the parents have someone else to blame..

Sure there is.. lets pass more laws..

As a parent.. i know what games my kid plays.. and what games he buys.. thats MY JOB AS A PARENT. I watch what he does on the internet, i make sure he does his homework, and when he breaks rules he pays the price..

I think they used to call this parenting at some point.. but i guess most people dont want to be bothered with their kids so its easier to ask the goverment to be responsible for them.

WAKE UP YOU MORONS AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR KIDS!

Parents don't take responsibility. There is a family that lives down the street and they bought their 7 year old son Halo 2. I personally don't think that a 7 year old needs this game for any reason. Oh and the kid doesn't listen to his parents at all. So it's not the adults who run the household, it's the child.

The most violent game my kids have played is Super Smash Brothers Melee.

The biggest problem is that most people don't know that parent is a verb, not a noun.

You parent your kids, as in proactive.

You're not a parent to your kids, as in reactive.

People need to wake the hell up and pay attention to what their kids are doing or we are going to be living in a society of thugs.

Oh wait, we are already there.

I saw Marines killing Iraqi's on TV so I thought I'd walk over to my local 7/11 and shoot the guy behind the counter because he was a terrorist.

You know what's interesting though is that I've bought 2 games in the past month or so with an M rating and got carded both times. (I'm 23) I'm not a drinker or a smoker but recently I bought a buddy a case of beer for his birthday. Wasn't carded. Ran to the convenience store to pick a friend up a pack of cigarettes wasn't carded.

What the hell is wrong with our country? No wonder some kids are so stupid. We're OVER PROTECTIVE. We cover playgrounds in foam, rubber and plastic. What happened to the metal monkey bars 7 feet off the ground over a cement pad I played on as a child?

Bottom line is, it's up to parents to instill values and morals into their children. Not the government's responsibility. We shouldn't even ask it of them. Nor should they force it upon someone. Grow a spine America. It's no wonder we were drug into a stupid war by an incompetent man who has the charisma of a dirty pair of socks. But now I'm off subject...
