If the VOOM service was peddled like Dish/DirectTV and got a few million suscribers, it'd be a big hit. I mean, the service looks fantastic and anyone who's getting a nice home set-up of HDTV and surround sound needs something like this, but the initial equipment cost may prevent some people from switching. Sure, the enthusiasts won't mind paying a few hundred bucks more, but mainstread audience -- those people who had to spend months convincing their spouses to invest in HDTV set-up, might hold out.

It's not all that good...

The HDTV programming offered by VOOM is mostly low quality,
programming reminiscent of the early days of television when
the TV cameras focused on anything that would move
(preferrably under the bright studio lights).

Now, DirecTV is about to come on line with 150+ HDTV
channels. VOOM is totally outclassed with no real room to gtrow.
It sounds like another Dear Leader has lost his marbles.
