The Configuration Management Database (CMDB) Federation has released its first specification, designed to allow disparate systems that retain large amounts of data to share information.

The Federation, composed of IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Fujitsu, BMC Software, CA and Microsoft, is currently reviewing which standards body it will submit its specification to for consideration to become a standard among CMDB and other data repositories such as asset management systems and service desks.
