Business Objects to bundle IBM tools

Business Objects, an analytics and reporting software maker, said Tuesday that it will begin selling IBM's mainframe access software. Under the terms of the deal, Business Objects will bundle IBM's mainframe connectivity tool, known as DB2 Information Integrator Classic Federation for z/OS, with its BusinessObjects Data Integrator package.

The company said the combination of the IBM technology with its business applications will allow customers to more easily run queries and harvest information from both relational and nonrelational databases made by a number of vendors. Business Objects said the addition of the IBM tools will offer customers the ability to better perform complex database tasks such as background data extraction and real-time data movement tracking.
