Building beefier batteries

Duracell has announced the latest addition to its battery lineup, the Ultra CR-V3, which is meant for use in digital cameras. According to the company, the battery will last twice as long as other disposable batteries used in cameras and will not lose its charge even when it is not used for extended periods. The lithium battery will be available in North America in July for $10.99.

In related news, International Paper is teaming with Power Paper to produce paper-thin batteries that can be affixed to product packages. With this technology, marketers could entice consumers by playing song samples right off a CD. Battery production will start later this year.
