BlueLight.com unveils redesigned site

BlueLight.com, the Internet unit of Kmart, unveiled its redesigned e-commerce store Monday to coincide with the return of the company's famed "blue light special" at its brick-and-mortar stores. The original "blue light" would flash inside a Kmart store as an employee would announce, "Attention Kmart shoppers," recommending a discount item somewhere in the store. The promotion became part of Americana but was dimmed for years by the chain. Kmart brought it back, in part to help promote its Web site, which has been equipped with new features, such as improved visual elements and search functions, Kmart said in a statement.
