BlueArc to use Vixel networking gear

Storage start-up BlueArc will use storage networking switches from Vixel within its Si7500 storage system, according to a deal the companies plan to announce Monday.

The Vixel switches communicate using the high-speed Fibre Channel networking technology. Each of BlueArc's six-foot tall Si7500 cabinets can accommodate as much as 8.8 terabytes of storage and connect to the outside world using the ordinary TCP/IP (transmission control protocol/Internet protocol) networking standard.
