I guess FOSS is only a religion till someone sticks 8 million dollars in your face, then it is closed, proprietary, and patented.
I'd bet my lunch that most of the vocal users in the FOSS community would make the same choice.
As a somewhat cynical guess, I'd assume these "upgrades" are mearly something along the lines of applying a DRM wrapper on the fly, or some sort of stealthed manditory seeding the 'user' can't control or disable.

- Very good, sophisticated treatment of this item. There is a very good reason that so many content companies have bought into the BitTorrent story. Can you say disintermediation? Absolutely a central concept in this space going forward, with or without hindrance from big cry babies like Wal-Mart.
