Not enough!
There isn't enough being done by these big oil companies! Even those of you who choose to ignore or deny global warming with your big-oil backed "research" really have to admit that it would be nice to cut down on pollution levels. Do you really enjoy breathing that dirty air?

These companies should start taking their unreasonably high profits and do two things: invest some of it in alternative fuels, and help people in need!

how about...
Just curious, do you make more money in your job than you spend everyday? If so, would you mind giving some to me? Oil companies, like all companies, are ultimately responsible to their shareholders. If it is in their interest, perhaps to quite environmentalists, then we will see more action. You can't expect oil companies to suddenly turn into non-profit ventures out to save the world.

big energy's alternative challenges
Clearly our private enterprise system is incapalble of dealing with
long term threats and can only deal in short term issues. This is a
very threatening problem, and cannot be solved on a piecemeal
short term basis. We have to support political candidates that will
force the issue. This is is a world war, just as much as WWII. It calls
for extdraordinary methods. A carbon tax, rationing of energy will
change the bottom line picture.Failure to do so will result in
widespread poverty in 30 years. Take this seriously.

Iceland
Iceland is using geo-thermal to heat and generate power. The U.S.
has a mega-volcano centered in Yellowstone National Park. Tap
into the geo-thermal. Instead of drilling for oil, drill for the geo-
thermal energy.
